Classical Five Element Acupuncture is a 5,000 year old, comprehensive science and holistic medical art based entirely on Natural Laws and the fundamental premise that “we are designed to heal.”  Classical Five Element Acupuncture is healing by Nature's Design.

Nature’s perfect design is composed of infinite variations of the Five Essential / QuintEssential Movements / Elements of Nature.  The Five Elements manifest as all phenomena, both

seen and unseen, in the elemental world we live in.  The Five Elements manifest as

all aspects of our Physical, Mental, E/Motional and Spiritual “Nature”.
Here are just a few examples of how the Elements manifest in us:

WOODs / Green Growth / Liver / Gall Bladder / Hope

FIRE / Sun / Heart / Small Intestine / Heart Protector / Triple Burner / Awareness

EARTH / Fertile Soil / Spleen / Stomach / Compassion

METALs / Minerals & Gases / Lungs / Great Intestine / Gratitude

WATER / Rain, Rivers & Seas / Kidneys / Bladder / Wisdom

When our Five Elements are balanced we feel energized and in harmony with Life itself.  When our Five Elements are imbalanced we experience dis/ease and dis/harmony.  Classical Five Element Acupuncture is both an excellent support for maintaining optimal balance and health, and a restorative therapy which supports recovery from both chronic and acute imbalances.

The active principle of the Five Elements, and therefore of literally everything, is chi or qi (Japanese: ki / Sanskrit: prana).  Awareness of chi is not intrinsic to Western culture as it is to Eastern cultures.  Though “energy” is not an accurate translation of chi, we do refer to chi when we use expressions such as my “energy is high or low today”, and that person has “positive or negative energy”.  Chi literally translates as "breath", "air", or "gas", and figuratively as "life force", “vital principle” or "energy flow".  The Chinese character for chi is a pictogram of steam rising above a pot of rice cooking over a fire.  The steam carries the QuintEssence (Five Essences) of the rice.  In Japanese a casual way of saying “goodbye” is Kiotsukete, which translates as “take good care of your honorable life force”.

Chi is everywhere and manifests as everything.  Just as rain or snow falls everywhere and then accumulates and flows in rivers, chi accumulates and flows in precise pathways throughout our bodies. These pathways are referred to as meridians.  And, just as rivers accumulate in ponds, lakes and seas, chi accumulates in our bodies in places along these meridians referred to as acupuncture points.  When our chi circulates freely through all of the meridians and points, we experience health and harmony, Physically, Mentally, E/Motionally and Spiritually.

Classical Five Element Acupuncture can help restore the circulation and balanced flow of chi.  Ultimately, in order to move fully from imbalance to balance, it is QuintEssential to increase your Awareness of Nature's perfect design, and cultivate healthy and life fulfilling choices.

Kiotsukete!

“One of the great joys of Classical Acupuncture is that it teaches us so much about ourselves and about nature. It brings us closer to nature, closer to the real joy in life and gives us a sense of proportion.”
